I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Psalm 116:1-2 NLT
I love this verse. Love. This. Verse. My favorite part is the fact that GOD actually physically BENDS his ear to hear us. He moves himself closer so he can listen to our words. How humbling is it to think that our tiny little prayers tug at his heartstrings enough for him to move closer, hold us & say what can I do for you my sweet child, tell me your woes. He is listening at all hours.
He listens. I mean actually listens. Not in the way that we listen to our kids while do the dishes & laundry simultaneously. In our human contained abilities we can’t do all that and really listen. Yet because he’s God he can be 100% present during my prayers as he can for another. His abilities are beyond our world & our restraints.
The concordance defines the word used originally (inclined) as the sweetest expression of heaven. It is sometimes defined as “extending” in every direction. Here’s what got me choked up. It says that the heavens bow down so they are closer to earth. God himself moves closer to us so he may hear our prayers. God. Comes. Closer. The creator of the entire universe moves to me because my worries concern him.
How radically special does that make me feel. How safe do I feel in arms like that. How aware of my prayers does this make me. Oh how he loves.
